We are now picking all varieties in our spacious orchards.
No rain in the summer has resulted in smallish apples in the area, including our orchards. But don’t forget that small fruit has stronger taste!
People have been picking: McIntosh, Cortland, Macoun, Gala, Empire, Ida Red, Greening, Rome, Jonathan, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Spartan, and Northern Spy apples. In addition, there are a lot of beautiful Lady Apples this year. And we still have plenty pears as well. Pick some for wine-poached pear dessert!
Honey Crisp is all gone. McIntosh and Gala are scarce. Many Golden Delicious apples are tiny, but there are plenty big ones, too.
The foliage is really impressive. You had better come see it! The woods along the farm road, looking from the big pine tree in Orchard #11. It is worth seeing it. And the beautiful maple trees at the secret path between Orchard #9 and #13—did you know?
Plan for visiting us, we are looking forward to seeing you here this month!
